Did you know your body cells have memory receptors?

When you feel the difference between hot and cold water it is the specialised cell receptors that tell the brain a change in temperature.

Pain is exactly the same, the body remembers particular pain and responses as such.

Allergic reactions have similar reactions meaning the body will response to the allergy when in contact with a certain allergen.  Example:- Hayfever sufferers.

This can be one of several reasons why when we try to lose weight with fad diets they don’t work as our body goes into memory mode and cycles around in protection mode.

Fad diets generally involve limited calorie intake, ridiculous macronutrient deficiency or worse fasting. At night after the main meal the body is in a fasted state predominantly from the time a person goes to bed until they get up in the morning. Continuing to fast long term –  until lunch time effects the body’s metabolism, depletes cells of essential nutrients and can have a long lasting devastating effect resulting in weight gain and/or organ damage.  The body thinks it is in starvation mode and the body cells remember repeated cycles. A Brief History of Ridiculous Fad Diets

I try to avoid using the word – diet due to the stigma and people have a tendency to feel they are restricted. Honestly it’s about lifestyle changes, no matter how busy you are…your health and your families healthy should be a priority but it does take planning.

There are some simple daily food intake changes that can be made to reset memory cells.

Before we get together, keep a food diary tracking every food that goes into your mouth each day for a week. Include fluids, snacks, medication even chewing gum etc. Add at the end of the day, how you are feeling and if there was any emotional changes such as elevated stress, nervous, celebrations, peacefulness.
